lpi settings on printer drivers - from CDharry@aol.com

We have recently discovered that the lpi settings on the linotronic 530 make a big difference to the way the Docutech and 6135 print tints. The lower the setting, the better the result. Does anyone else have trouble with tints? These are from MSWord documents printed on Xerox Docutech or Docuprint. We try to get customers to use the linotronic 530 becuase it comes on the Windows 3.11, 95 and NT4 disks or CD's.

Scitex 5000 Printer

The Scitex 5000 Printer is a compact, versatile inkjet printer that fits a variety of on-line and off-line printing applications. It features patented high resolution, single row inkjet technology for the highest quality image at speeds up to 950 feet (289 m) per minute with a resolution of 120 x 120 dpi. It includes 26 fonts with the ability to add more, including near-letter, high-resolution (240 x 120 dpi) fonts. A remote printhead with umbilical cord allows the printer to work in-line on buckle folders, collators, web presses and binding lines. The self-cleaning printhead prints bar codes and graphics, from input supplied by a laptop, notebook PC or mainframe computer.

Operating Principle - Xerographic

Fusing Method - Soft Roller Heat-pressure - Due to the very hot fusing method, pre-printed stock should be printed 5 days before going through the 4135.

Printing Speeds
135 impressions per minute at pitch 7, 116 ipm at pitch 6, 96 ipm at pitch 5, 77 ipm at pitch 4, 58 ipm at pitch 4 and 58 ipm at pitch 3.

Paper Handling
60gsm to 200gsm. Cut sheet, coloured, preprinted, pre-drilled, pre-perforated Pre-printed stock must withstand temperatures of up to 400 degrees (204c).

Variable Paper Sizes
A4 (210mm x 297mm), A3 (297mm x 420mm), B4 (257mm x 363mm) Multiple-pitch feature allows the printer to change between five pitch modes depending on the paper size.

Printer
600spi output print resolution. Simplex or and Duplex printing. Three feeder trays for variable stock control.

Forms
Electronically created and stored at LPS or Host. Changeable on a page to page basis. Multiple forms per page option.

Fonts
Proportional or fixed character spacing. Variable character size of 3 to 36 points. Variable typefaces. Logo and signature fonts.

Printed Format
Variable spacing of 3 to 18 LPI. Spacing of 4 to 30 characters CPI. Multiple logical pages on a physical page. Landscape or portrait orientation.

Types of Output
Interspersed reports, stacked reports, multiple sets, offsetting, collated or uncollated.

Papers that are not recommended
Coated stock, conductive papers, papers containing talc, papers containing wax, stearate or plasticiser.
